Mr. Ghetian spent more than 20 years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, specializing in cyber-enabled financial crime. His investigations covered cryptocurrency investment fraud, exchange compromises, SIM-swapping attacks, phishing schemes, account takeovers, digital asset tracing, and other sophisticated forms of cybercrime.
He founded the FBI’s Orange County Cyber Task Force, bringing together federal, state, and local agencies to combat increasingly complex cyber threats. From 2021 through his retirement in 2023, he led U.S. government investigations into large-scale cryptocurrency fraud operations, including so-called “pig butchering” schemes. Recognizing the growing threat posed by these fraud networks, Mr. Ghetian developed and delivered training programs that helped FBI personnel across all 52 field offices identify and investigate such schemes. His work was nominated for the Attorney General’s Award by the Department of Justice’s National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET).
Since leaving the FBI, Mr. Ghetian has been retained as an expert in more than 75 matters involving cryptocurrency tracing, cyber fraud investigations, digital asset recovery, and forensic analysis.
